CLONMEL MASTERS
Donie Ryan wins his third Masters of the season, defeating Mike Smith for the third time in a final.
Clonmel born Mike Smith failed to break his duck against Cappawhites Donie Ryan in a intensely contested final at the Local Bar,Clonmel last Sunday.Mick O'Connell(Clonmel) and Danny O'Brien(Aherlow) both fell at the semi-final stage
Best of the Youths competing were Simon Smith(Aherlow) and James Gearon(Clonmel),both of whom bowed out at the quater-finals,not before Smith Jnr. disposed of Pascal Cleary and Gearon proving to be a serious handful for Donie Ryan.
Notable matches of the day were the Round One pairing of Tipperay Youths Jason Hahessy and Simon Smith,Simon prevailing 3-2 on this occasion and the 3-2 defeat of Tipp Countys Tone Power by Aherlows Danny O'Brien who is quietly making an impression on the Tipperary tournament scene.Tipp Youths Murty Browne Jnr. had a very credible victory over Army's John O'Neill, again 3-2.Murty was to succome to former Tipp player Martin Hennessy in the next Round.
Thanks to the management and staff of the Local Bar.
