EMLY'S TOM IVORS STORMS TO FIRST MASTERS VICTORY OF SEASON
The Forge-B's Tom Ivors shocked the County's darts community as he launched a successful raid on this seasons Clonmel Masters title from out of nowhere.
Beating Carrick-on-Suirs Bernard Barry in a fascinating final encounter 4-2 on a tie break,Ivors annouvced his recent arrival back to Ireland by beating no les than five inter-county players to capture the first singles tournament of the season.Defeating Noel Landy in a preliminary match Tom went on to dispose of Mick O'Connell,Del Sheehan and defending Clonmel Masters Champion Donie Ryan(all Tipperary) before seeing off Croke's-B's Bernard Barry(Kilkenny) to deservedly take this seasons title.
A notable performance on the day by Kate Ryan's Kevin Walsh defeating Cashels Mike Kearney and Ballingarry's John Durnin on his way to a semi-final before hitting the wall against Bernard Barry.
Defending Tipperary County Master Jimmy Hanaghan had a reasonable afternoon reaching the quater-finals before being stopped by Tipperary Number One Donie Ryan in a nailbiting 3-2 match.''Chisler''Reynolds and Del Sheehan also fell at the last eight.
Match of the day must go jointly to two first round matches,Cashels Tomas Mikolajzck and Clonmels Andrew Lawlor's 3-2 battle,the Cashel man emerging victorious on this occasion and Local Bar clubmates Jim Hanaghan and Ronnie Fitzgerald Jnr.,with Fitzgerald Jnr. not making it by the od leg in five this time round.
